Unlocking the potential of every child

Welcome to Reception!  We are class RC and we are very excited to be in our first year of school at Windrush.

RC’s class teacher is Miss Stead; Mrs Querec is our Early Years Practitioner and Ms Vaillencourt is our Teaching Assistant.  Every morning, we come into school, independently hang our own coats up and put our book bags in our boxes ready for the school day.

We practise our phonics every morning, using hands on games and activities.  We have started our Phonics learning with Letters and Sounds phase 2 and will be learning a new sound every day.

In maths we learn to count to 20, and we to match amounts to numerals.  We are also learning about the names and properties of 2d and 3d shapes.

Our learning often takes place outdoors; in our play area and, after Easter, we will begin attending Forest School because we love to be very active.

We have one PE session a week where we get ourselves changed into our PE kits and go into the hall to learn Dance, Gymnastics or games.

Outings are an important part of the curriculum; some are local, for example, local area walks and visiting Sainsbury’s, and others go farther afield, for example, to London City Airport.

Parents’ support is very important to us in Reception; reading daily at home, and joining us on outings. You can find out what we are doing each week on our class page.
