"Unlocking the potentialof every child"

RE

RE Curriculum Intent

Our RE curriculum in KS1 and KS2 study the three main religions which are most representative of our school community – Christianity, Islam and Hinduism. In KS1, we also teach Sikhism which continues throughout KS2. Buddhism is taught in Upper KS2 as an additional religion. Humanism is also  studied, this is threaded throughout KS1 and KS2.

Children use prior knowledge throughout KS1 and KS2 to make links with new knowledge to other religions. Certain units of work are taught at certain times of the year to ensure that children can make links with particular religious festivals pertaining to a particular faith.

Through RE, the British Values of individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs are taught and promoted.

By the end of KS2 the children that leave us are able to appreciate and celebrate the diverse community they live in.
